Protecting state and
local government employees
CCPOA members have never been required under federal law
to pay into the social security system. There have been
several proposals over the years that would require all
state and local government employees to pay into the
system as a way to increase revenue. CCPOA strongly
opposes any legislation that would require state and
local government employees to pay into the social
security system.
Current Status: There was no pending legislation that
would force state and local government employees to pay
into the social security system.
